I have always enjoyed math, although most don't. For some reason math has always made sense to me. It wasn't until my Calculus 2 class when I developed a true love for mathematics. For the first time in my life I had a teacher who required us to work through applied problems. This teacher made it clear to me how math can be used in the real world today. I am a tutor at a college in Bellingham. I tutor in mathematics regularly, and I have found that students not only understand math more when they see how it relates to the "real world", but they also tend to enjoy learning math this way. I do my best to teach in a simple, clear way that leaves room for the student to come to the answer on their own. I am here to help students learn and understand mathematics, but I will push them to learn it for themselves and not just rely on my to help them through their homework.
