Hello,

I have been learning the Chinese language for an extended period throughout my life. I have been taught methods of learning, remembering and over time becoming semi-fluent in the Chinese language.

I believe that students should learn in a fun environment, especially with such a hard area of study, so that they look forward to each lesson. Learning and developing a relationship with another language benefits you in many ways including learning patience while building a strong work ethic.

When I was learning Chinese I had very strict teachers who would tell me there "was no excuse" in their classroom. I believe students shouldn't make excuses, but teachers and tutors should still be willing to work with the student's ever changing life.

This of course is not the only subject I am willing and able to tutor for. I am also able to tutor for reading and study skills.

Reading was a passion for me when I was younger, however, it did not come smoothly. At first I despised it, but after a couple of tips and tricks my father put into use I was soon reading books faster than I could grab them off of the shelves.

If you would like to work on your reading skills with me I would love to find some interesting books at your skill level so that we can slowly build your skill level up to your desired skill level.

Study skills are very important to me. I went through high school, the Running Start program, and my first year of college. I experienced many different forms of classes, study requirements and test formats.
I learned how to study for them, refined the specific needs each test and subject required.
I would love to help you, or your child prior to test season so they can achieve the desired grade!

Sincerely,
Seneca E.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

I grew up with ADHD, the doctors refused to diagnose me as such.
However, this was a hidden blessing. I learned to manage my ADHD, maintain good grades while learning a language. I still have ADHD, and I believe that medicine should not be used unless it is truly needed. This being said, I would love to help your child understand their special needs and learn to grow with them instead of in conflict with them.

Chinese

I have been taking Chinese since third grade, specifically Mandarin. I learned simple songs and cultural aspects for the first few years.

I decided to take a break in my Chinese language education in high school.

When I moved up to Bellingham to attend Western Washington University, I enrolled in Chinese 101, 102 and 103 over the course of the school year. I received an A- average for these three classes over the course of the year.

I plan to continue my Chinese language education and major in it alongside Psychology.

Study Skills

Studying is one of the very important skills associated with learning. This includes learning a language to learning basic math, study skills are very important to all subject matters.

I went through the Running Start program and my first year of four year university. Because of this I have refined my personal study habits and have had the chance to help my friends with their own study habits.

Thankfully from my varied experiences with classes I've had personal experience helping friends and other students learn to study for classes like Chinese, Statistics, and Psychology classes.
