My combined professional background in corporate industry and from teaching sessions with a 4th grade at Cherry Crest Elementary, English Language Learning at Tillicum Middle School, and Special Education at Lindbergh High School will benefit your student. The passion and enthusiasm that I have for working with students is evident with over four years as a Volunteer in the Bellevue Education System (VIBES). The opportunity to mentor students in reading, writing, sciences, and math has provided me with valuable experience in both connecting with students and finding alternate ways to help them see success. My internal drive for success continually challenges me to provide my students with the most engaging and beneficial learning opportunities possible. Academically, my teacher certification is current for both Elementary and Secondary English Language Learner programs.
I have a WA Residency Teaching Certificate. My Elementary School credentials include both course work with City University and portfolio presentations which demonstrate learning goals focused on student achievement. Class room experience was gained at Cherry Crest Elementary in Bellevue, WA and Hazelwood Elementary in Renton, WA. The Elementary K-6 subject descriptions included course work in language arts, science, math, and social studies. Teacher preparation and in class work with students ranged from the 3, 4, and 5th grade levels and provided valuable knowledge in both the above curriculum area and classroom management skills. Effectively this included lesson plans that gave students a clear idea of what they will be learning, what the assignments were and the grading policy. Subject objectives and all assignments met Washington State OSPI learning goals and give students ample opportunity to practice new skills.
My English Language Learning (ELL/ESL) subject credentials include multiple hours of course work with City University of Seattle to build strategies for differentiate instruction and recognize multiple intelligences when designing ELL lessons. Three 8 week internships were completed at multiple grade levels with language arts, social studies, and math skills work. These activities include different kinds of opportunities for individual, paired, and group work in both an Elementary School and Middle School setting. The tasks relate to instruction that appeal to a range of learners, like creating charts, drawing, gathering information, and presenting. Differentiating enables the students to learn thematically whenever possible so that they have multiple opportunities to use the skills they are learning in context.
