Teaching is my passion. I graduated with PhD in Pharmacology from College of Pharmacy, St John’s University, NY in May 2011. Teaching has been an important part of my training at the St John’s University. My teaching experiences have allowed me to work with students from a variety of backgrounds in New York City and I have tried my best to evaluate each student's mastery of required skills.
During my graduate training, I have been fortunate enough to serve as both a teaching assistant and teaching fellow to Pharm.D students. As a teaching fellow, I have gained considerable undergraduate teaching experience in several types of courses, including Anatomy and Physiology, Clinical Applications of Pharmacy Practice and Analytical Chemistry. Specifically, I have taught discussion and laboratory sections for Anatomy and Physiology course for five semesters which covered 1) Bone / Skeleton – Human Bone 2) Skeletal Muscles – Rat Dissection 3) Circulatory System – Rat Dissection 4) Urogenital System- Sheep Kidney and Rat Dissection 5) Anatomy of the Eye and Ear / Lymphatic / Endocrine systems 6) Digestive, Respiratory System / Respiratory Physiology 7) Histology #1 – epithelium, muscle and nerve 8) Histology #2 – connective tissue 10) Muscle & Nerve Physiology – Human & Frog Simulation 11) Cardiac Physiology – Human & Frog Simulation.
I conducted tutorials, used interactive animations, anatomy charts, models of every system in the human body to help students learn, understand and remember the anatomy and principles of physiology. Apart from giving lectures, my main responsibility was guiding lab assignments which included animal dissection and body part identification using human cadavers.
I have maintained student grades and attendance records. In addition to classroom instruction, I have advised students on appropriate research topics and evaluated their work. Based on student evaluations, I have been listed among the top ten percent of graduate teaching fellows rated at the St John’s University. In addition, I have assisted lab director to develop course syllabi and instructional materials and participated in department activities, including committee meetings and student counseling.
