Over the past ten years I have helped dozens of students achieve success in a wide variety of subjects. A large portion of my tutoring has been in the areas of English, writing, and reading; however, I am also a proficient tutor in study skills, basic math through algebra, WASL testing, as well as in the humanities. In the past I have also helped high school students raise their SAT scores substantially in all subjects. I can accommodate small groups of students as well individual students in any subject. I prefer to meet at a library for most types of session, but can travel to students' homes as well.
I strive to meet the needs of my students by first assessing their abilities and discussing their goals. Tutoring sessions are low-pressure situations where students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring concepts. I believe that every student can succeed. My time is dedicated to helping students become independent, confident learners. The greatest strides are made when students are committed to their goals and are willing to work for their achievements.
I earned both my B.A. in English and my M.A. in Education from Pacific Lutheran University. Currently I am a seasonal staff biologist at Point Defiance Zoo in Tacoma.
