"Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire" Yeats
This is my educational philosophy. I believe that education is not just giving or teaching the children what they need to know to be successful and productive individuals in the world, it is more about giving them the passion to learn, to grow, to explore, to question, and to search for answers to those questions.
My aim is to make their learning a fun and engaging experience. If they are engaged then they are learning. Making it fun keeps their attention. By relating what they are learning in school with the outside world, they make connections and are more able to understand what they are learning.
I am a graduate of Johnson State Collage. I have my Vermont state license to teach with Highly Qualified Teacher status. I have completed 2 practicums, my first was at an elementary school with a group of 2nd grade students, my second was at a second elementary school with a group of 4th grade students. I currently working as an instructional assistant at an elementary school until a permanent teaching position opens in the local area.
I have 2 grown children, my son is a PhD student and teacher at Virginia Tech, my daughter is a nurse at a local nursing home. I have 2 grandchildren, a boy (age 1) and a girl (age 6). I spend as much time with them as possible. Their learning and interest help keep me excited to teach.
I hope that any parent who see's their child struggling with school and declining grades will seek tutoring help. I feel that I could be a great asset in helping your child to achieve their goals and to help you as a parent to have peace of mind.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I hope to hear from you soon.
