Hello!

I am currently completing my Masters in Economics at Old Dominion University. This past Spring 2011, I volunteered as a teaching assistant (TA)and thoroughly enjoyed working with the professor and helping the students to understand concepts and various techniques. It brings me great joy to help students of all ages truly understand the material they are learning. I am the middle oldest of 6 children and understand that every person learns differently and has his or her own strengths and weaknesses. One of my brothers is challenged in reading and spelling, but is amazing at science and mathematics. My younger sister needs to study days in advance for a test and then be verbally quizzed. Personally, I need to read the material, rewrite my notes (sometimes several times) and then highlight. I like to understand concepts as opposed to memorize facts, but that is a personal preference and is not ideal for all subject matters.

As an undergraduate, I was a Finance Major with triple minors in Mathematics, Risk Management & Insurance, and English Literature. I worked as an underwriter for a few years before moving to Norfolk to start my masters on a full-time basis. In my opinion, my personal strengths are mathematics (basic math, matrices, algebra, calc I, II & III, geometry), Finance, Economics, and all elementary through high school academics aside from languages and the arts.

For certain, I am available for the majority of the summer and MWF during the fall. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to working with you or your child!

Sarah is intelligent, enthusiastic, professional, and an excellent tutor! We highly recommend her! — Our experience to date with Sarah has been outstanding. Sarah researches the materials to be discussed at their session in advance, and she does so on her own time... impressive! She comes to our home well organized and ready to go on relevant subject matter! Subsequently, no prep time is needed at our sessions, no time wasted searching through books trying to find examples pertinent to my daughte ...
