I have an B.S. in Applied Mathematics and an M.S. in Environmental Engineering. I have been unofficially tutoring people since I was in high school (people always seek you out when they know you're good at math!). I love to talk to a student and see how they think through problems and come up with solutions. We all learn differently and understanding how someone sees the world is key to helping them learn textbook information. With math, I think the #1 problem that I see is a combination of being overwhelmed and laziness. Many math problems can involve several techniques and formulas to figure out; it's a matter of being patient, being organized and neat, and not letting a scary-looking problem get the best of you!
