I'm currently a 5th grade teacher at Hermitage Elementary in Virginia Beach. I have taught in the public school system for over 5 years and have experience teaching 3rd and 5th grades. I have also taught in summer programs for elementary school-aged children and am adept with working with upper elementary-aged children (grades 3-5). I team teach, so I focus on math, science, and social studies as those are my strengths along with writing.

I also completed the International Baccalaureate Program in high school and have strengths in formal writing and analytically reading literature. I completed calculus and can tutor up through algebra 2 in math.

I love technology and feel very comfortable on a computer. I use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, One Note, Publisher, and Outlook on a daily basis to create worksheets, games, presentations, and databases. I have taught many of these skills to my students. I have also created a website using Microsoft FrontPage and maintain a blog with my students.

Study Skills

As a fifth grade teacher, I have the privilege of preparing students for tests and quizzes. I use various techniques such as creating note cards, two-column notes, and flip books. I also set up games and train the students how to focus in on what they don't know and how to best memorize it and understand it. Skills focus on each of the core subjects: reading, writing, history, science, and math.
