On May 3, 2014, I received my B.A. from Regent University where I maintained a full time course load and a 3.5 GPA. This was accomplished while working full time for Chesterfield County Public Schools, being a full time mom and wife and participating in outside activities. I spent five years working as an instructional assistant in an elementary school and one year working as the computer teacher in an elementary school. Though I am currently working in the instructional office I have applied for my teaching license and teaching positions.

When I teach a student I like to find out the way in which the student learns best and tailor my teaching to those particular needs. Furthermore, I work with a student until he/she understands the material well enough to succeed in the course and on the tests. I will not skip over what isn't readily understood and will do my best to make learning as fun as it is informative.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Bible Studies

I spent most of my early school years in a Christian school and Bible studies was an integral part of the curriculum. Additionally, I have taken several community college and university courses in Biblical studies, especially while attending classes at Regent University.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have worked as both an instructional assistant and technology resource assistant (computer teacher) for Pre-K to 5th grade. These are positions I held for 5 years and one year, respectively. Within these positions I led reading groups, taught ESOL, math, and social studies as well as instructed students on the proper use of computer and software systems.

Social Studies

I have earned a B.A in History and have taken many social studies courses. I have also taught social studies to elementary students. Additionally, I have passed the Praxis II teaching exam in this content area for secondary education.

Study Skills

Through time management and organization I have successfully implemented and taught study skills. In addition to these techniques I also implement various reading and note-taking techniques that make study time more efficient and effective.

A wonderful, patient and kind tutor. — Stephanie is a sweetheart. She was so patient and kind. She did not overload me with information I could not handle. If I did not know something or didn't understand, she would explain it again in another way. I never felt rushed or pushed to learn something. She even left me with hard copy handouts about the computer which has been very valuable. Don't hesitate to work with her. She is an an ...
