I have an eclectic number of interests, which range from bagpipes to fencing, but my true love has always been Shakespeare and the English language. I treasure the opportunity to share my passion with students. As an undergraduate, I created and taught classes in my community that introduced middle and high school students to Shakespeare in a fun and nonthreatening environment. After graduating summa cum laude from Cleveland State University with majors in Dramatic Arts and Communications, I immediately entered graduate school, where I earned my Master of Letters in Shakespeare and Performance. At Mary Baldwin College, I was a student of pedagogy (which included practical experiences entering other classrooms), taught Public Speaking, and in my free time I assisted with fencing class.
As a tutor, I believe in letting you explore the possibilities of your subject. I encourage critical discussion, provide a push in the right direction when it is needed, but more importantly, communicate with you to discover how you learn best and create a personalized curriculum. My study methods earned me a score of 30 on the ACT, and I would be glad to help you find a method that works for you.
