Greetings! My name is Margaret. I am a certified ESL teacher - English as a Second Language (TESOL, TESL, TEFL), through Oxford Seminars. I also enjoy teaching voice presentation, singing, acting, event management, study skills, and guiding students in developing their communication skills to best represent themselves.
I completed my Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management, with a focus on Arts Management, at Vermont College Union Institute & University. My professional experience includes a diversity of areas: teaching, writing, performing and visual arts, marketing, public relations, and business administration.
My teaching experience extends over several years, and includes the performing and visual arts, English, study/organizational skills, voice presentation/public speaking, and event management. It is always enjoyable to meet and teach a diversity of students in different styles of classrooms, which have included: public and private schools, theatres, arts and recreational organizations, and as Adjunct Faculty for Continuing Adult Education programs at Virginia community colleges.
I have experienced living and working internationally. I also worked in the USA as District Coordinator for a student exchange program, placing international students with Host Families and overseeing their well-being and cultural adjustments.
Engaging in the creative process of learning can be very interesting and rewarding for both teacher and student. I adapt my teaching methods to the individual student's needs and learning abilities, and often integrate the use of the arts as tools in learning. This technique also aids students with their other studies, developing their minds and hearts, and making the educational experience more enjoyable.
If requested, I can assist students with presentation skills. Whether they are young children, teens or adult professionals, this guidance will provide them with tools and confidence for the future.
