Adobe InDesign

I have used InDesign extensively for many types of professional projects, including stationery, brochures, newsletters, catalogs, greeting cards, invitations, announcements, flyers, postcards, and even a children's book. Customers for whom I have done such work include both private persons and professionals. In addition to designing projects in the program, I have prepared many projects designed in Photoshop, etc. for printing using InDesign. I am familiar with versions CS3, CS4, as well as the newest version, CS5. In terms of teaching the program, I currently tutor InDesign one-on-one.

Adobe Photoshop

Photoshop is my favorite graphics program, perhaps because I really enjoy dealing with images. I use the program to create a multitude of projects, including product designs, flyers, cards and wrapping paper, logos, book/DVD/CD cover designs, photo restoration, collages, animations and QuickTime movies, as well as Website designs.

Teaching Photoshop is a true joy, whether it's a basic workshop or a full fledged course one-on-one. My materials are created from scratch and are adapted according to the needs of the student; I have multiple versions of my syllabus that I often refine, as well as my collection of exercises and images. The amazement I often see when demonstrating the feats of Photoshop are truly awarding, and I hope to share that knowledge with you!

Dreamweaver

My experience with Dreamweaver (versions CS3-CS5) is substantial, consisting of both Web-related projects and teaching. Such projects include the creation of various professional Websites currently online and offline; my clients have included a children's clothing company and party planner. I have also created E-mail blasts ("mass E-mails") for both a non-profit organization and teaching purposes. There are multiple ways of using Dreamweaver, either by utilizing its tools to design a Website or using advanced editing capabilities to code a Website, and I have used both methods extensively.

In terms of teaching, I give rotating workshops in Dreamweaver through a non-profit organization. They give me few requirements, so I create all the necessary materials from scratch; such materials included creating a basic Website in Dreamweaver for students to replicate. I also tutor one-on-one, both in using Dreamweaver to design Websites as well as coding Websites from scratch using HTML and CSS.

General Computer

I received my first computer at the age of twelve, with not even the knowledge of how to turn it on. The gift forever changed my life and certainly my career; I soaked up as many skills as I could as fast as possible, and it now seems almost impossible to think of the time when I lacked so much experience.

I started teaching computer literacy about a decade ago, and my patient nature has helped make it a very rewarding experience for both me and my students. From turning on the computer to document editing to exploring the Internet, it is truly a privilege to help others gain the skills required for utilizing the endless opportunities that computers provide.

HTML

I discovered HTML about a decade ago and began to self-teach myself the coding before really learning it in collage and beyond. As a detail-oriented and careful person, coding was definitely "my thing". I use HTML in creating all my Websites and when editing blogs; it is also the sole language I used to create E-mail blasts.

I was asked to help others learn HTML starting with my collage classmates; the "ah hah" moments of all my students, whether former classmates, current students from my alma mater, or through WyzAnt, is a particularly rewarding experience. Once there is that understanding, self-advancement is not far away.

Web Design

Experienced in Web design for close to a decade, I am skilled in the Web development process, as well as HTML (including tables), CSS, and Dreamweaver. I am also knowledgeable in creating and properly displaying Web graphics and animation, the basics of JavaScript, and how to utilize a PHP contact form. To date, I have designed six professional Websites for both clients and myself.

Teaching experience dates back almost several years, when I began tutoring in Dreamweaver. Since then, I have taught both the coding and non-coding aspects of Web design one-on-one and through workshops. I believe in starting with the basics, if needed, and working one's way up. I thoroughly enjoy Web design and try to convey that passion to my students.

Approved Subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet certified in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
