I have been tutoring for more than 11 years. I work mainly with High School aged students in the subjects of Math, ranging from Pre-Algebra to Pre-Calculus, Physical Science, Physics, World Geography, Spanish I, II, and III, as well as ACT/SAT/ASVAB Prep tutoring and help. However, I have tutored Middle-School students as well as some college math and GRE Prep.

I have a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Austin Peay State University, where I majored in Engineering Technology. I started tutoring when I was still in college. I was then offered a full-time position to become a Math Instructor at a private Learning Center in TN. I then went on to teach Sciences such as Physical Science and Physics, as well as teaching Spanish I, II, and III. I have recently moved to Newport News and would like to continue tutoring and helping those in I like to call it, "passing on my knowledge."

I have been tutoring and teaching ACT, as well as proctoring ACT exams for the past 5 years.

ACT Math

I have tutored and proctored ACT tests and am very proficient in most math subjects. I have two practice ACT tests I teach from as well as teaching strategies and tips to the test.

ACT Science

The Science section of the ACT does not test knowledge of science, but tests your ability to reason through scientific information. I have two practice ACT tests I teach out of as well as teaching strategies and tips to the test.

Algebra 1

I have worked with students in various levels of math, from Algebra I to trigonometry, for over 10 years. I have taught small groups as well as one-on-one tutoring in the subject.

Algebra 2

I have been teaching Algebra II for over 10 years. I have taught small groups as well as done one on one tutoring.

I scored in the 99th percentile when I took the ASVAB. I have tutored and helped many prepare for the test. I recommend getting test practice material from your recruiter and sitting down with someone to go over it and help you understand.

I'm a native speaker of Brazilian Portuguese and have been primarily an English Speaker since 1991. I have learned English as a second language myself and know what it's like to make that transition.

I have worked with both teenagers and adults in getting their GED.

I have worked in Geometry for over 10 years. I have tutored as well as taught small classes.

Microsoft Word

I taught a small group of Pre-Calculus this past year as well as one on one tutoring in the subject.

SAT Math

When it comes to Math, I am very proficient. The SAT is a little more difficult than the ACT in the fact that you can lose points for incorrect answers. You lose 1/4 of a point for every "guess" that isn't correct. It is important to truly understand the material at hand to make sure you don't make that mistake.

I have worked with students in High School Spanish Levels I-III for over 10 years.

Trig is one of my favorite subjects. Although a lot of the concepts seem difficult, I find it to be one of the most practical and fun Math subjects to learn.
