My 30 years of teaching experience includes conceptual, honors, AP Physics B and AP Chemistry. Most years, 90 to 100 percent of my AP students earn a 3 or higher on their Advanced Placement Exam. I have earned two BS degrees from The University of Florida and and a Master's degree from Clemson University. 37 semester hours of additional courses in Chemistry, Physics, Computing and Education have been earned at Clemson Univ. (6), Univ. of Virginia (16), George Washington Univ. (6), Univ. of Hartford (4), Univ. of South Florida (2) and Fitchburg State College (3). My summer experience includes teaching and developing training materials for the Training Department at the Kennedy Space Center, and evaluating performances of physics teachers for the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. Additional service includes: Guided Study, co-sponsoring the Academic Team and Chess Club, being a member of the Technology Committee and Faculty Development Committee, serving as a district area office representative, and managing the Science Department Computer Lab.
My Philosophy: A good teacher helps students develop and improve their abilities and skills to the fullest; conveys enthusiasm, understanding and an appreciation for the subject; and makes decisions based on what is right, not what is politically expedient. Classes are well organized with continual checks for understanding and appropriate adjustments. He is a good listener, creative in questioning skills and praises student positive performances. He cultivates an atmosphere of mutual good will with students, is sensitive to their legitimate needs and eager to be helpful. He is very careful and just in evaluating their performances and always doing whatever he can to contribute to a healthy school climate.
