I have been a teacher for about twenty years and have taught a full range of students, from young middle school children to college-aged young men and women—both in the U.S. and abroad—to elderly adults in a computer literacy course. Having had such a wide variety of successful experiences, I truly believe I can teach anyone anywhere.
The Middle East has been my home for these past sixteen years, and with some of it, the toughest teaching of my life. Not the easiest place to be a teacher, yet I have persevered and have no doubt that I have made a positive difference in many of their lives.
Over the years, I have taught English in all its various modes—writing, reading, listening, speaking—both as a first and second language. I do believe, however, that I have passed on things more valuable to my many learners: teaching them to think, to question and to have a broader appreciation of the wider world are foremost among these.
