Hello! I graduated summa cum laude with a 4.0 GPA from Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania in May of 2009 with a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and a minor in math. In high school I was a national merit finalist and scored a perfect 1600 on my SAT. I took the GRE in 2008, attaining a perfect math score of 800 and similarly high scores for the verbal and analytic sections. I worked for three years as a systems engineer for a defense contractor in the Washington DC area, and I have a strong interest in teaching others to excel in math and science. I moved back to Erie and I now work as a mechanical engineer.
It is very important to me that my students truly understand the concepts they bring to me for help. Too often I find that students are simply following recipes to arrive at answers. Usually, the main ingredient in that recipe is their calculator. I like to teach them to rely not on memorization or technology, but instead on building strong fundamentals and learning to apply those fundamentals deliberately to solve any problem they face. Ultimately, my goal is to help them develop the skills they need to solve problems independently.
