Former language therapist, teacher, special education teacher

I worked for 20 years as a speech therapist, language specialist, special education teacher and substitute teacher in Los Angeles and Fairfax Counties. Now retired, I love to work with children (and adults) helping them to improve their skills in reading, writing, spelling, basic math and general education subjects.

I am skilled in behavior modification and motivational techniques. I am cheerful and positive, but I expect and insist on accomplishing the necessary tasks to see positive growth in abilities!

I have taught many children to read using a phonics approach and incorporating sight word, context and comprehension skills.

I have a lifetime Standard Teaching Credential-Elementary from California. I also subbed in Virginia schools for several years in grades K-6.

Phonics

I have a Master's Degree Communicative Disorders. I also worked as a speech pathologist for 20 years. I also have a K-6 teaching credential from California

ADD/ADHD

I have lifetime teaching credentials from California in the categories of Learning Handicapped and Restricted Special Education. I worked for 3 years as a teacher of "Severely Emotionally Disturbed" students and "Language Disordered" students. ADD/ADHD was often a component of the various disorders.
