I have been a substitute teacher since 1997 in Math, Science, and Business subjects. My Mathematics experience includes prealgebra, Algebra I & II, Geometry, Trig, and precalculus. Science experience is in biology and chemistry.
Business experience includes accounting, marketing, keyboarding, business communications, word processing, and Microsoft office suite. I have conducted after school tutoring sessions in Algebra and Geometry for exam preparation and Standards of Learning (SOL) test preparation.
I have held several long term assignments in Math and Business subjects with great success.
My tutoring methods include using the textbook to answer student's questions and explain terms, example problems, end of chapter questions and discussion questions. I also use notes the student has taken in class to further the student's understanding. If the classroom teacher has provided worksheets, we review them to ensure the student's understanding of terms, methods, and processes. I will also provide worksheets and example questions if indicated to expand the student's understanding. I individualize tutoring processes for each student to accompany their current classes when possible instead of general basic information unless generalities are warranted. I am acceptable for tutoring sessions to take place in public settings such as libraries or in the student's home when parents are in attendance.
