I am passionate about learning, and I like to inspire that passion in others. It is difficult for some students to concentrate on an academic subject or find it interesting enough to learn from it. Because of this, I like to show them that learning can be fun, and that, even though they don't see the purpose of learning a particular idea or topic, all of the subjects they learn in school have value.
I have a Bachelor of Arts in English, a Master of Arts in Forensic Psychology, and am currently pursuing a Psychology Doctorate (Psy.D). I want to be able to convey my knowledge of these areas with students, and encourage them to find the areas that most interest them.
In addition, I currently have tutoring experience with a private tutoring company in Potomac, MD (references available upon request), and I have found that I truly enjoy interacting with the students, encouraging them to work to their full potential, and even learning from them and their learning styles. My experiences with my students have shown me that the ideal relationship between a tutor and student is to maintain professional boundaries while still allowing an even exchange of ideas and learning experiences. Also, these experiences have shown me that many students want to be shown that they, like the tutor, have something to teach as well. I try to bring that mentality to all of the interactions with my students.
