I come from a big tennis family. My father, his brothers, and another uncle all played college tennis at the University of Wisconsin and Michigan State University. My sister also played for the University of Wisconsin and her son played for Quinnipiac University.
I was a member of the Wisconsin State Championship High School Tennis team 3 of 4 years (singles and doubles). I played tennis for two years at Purdue University. After an injury, I then taught tennis for two summers, both locally as well as for the Bachman-Laing tennis camps in Wisconsin. My father and I reached one of the National Father-Son tournaments in Cincinnati, Ohio while I was playing college tennis.
I have taught students from age 6 to age 65. My focus is very much on fundamentals and the strategy of the game, while emphasizing that tennis is a game that provides the opportunity to play as long as you desire and get lots of exercise in the process.
