I currently teach preschool, but have taught both kindergarten and first-grade. I hold two Master's degrees, the last one being in Elementary Education. I enjoy helping students learn. I offer them encouragement, which helps build their confidence in that subject.
Finding a student's leaning style and interest is priority. I use this information to come up with exciting activities that will help spark their desire to continue learning. Each student has their own unique learning style. Therefore, I introduce them to various learning tools that they can use, to build upon what they already know. I believe all children can and want to learn.
I specialize in tutoring in math, English, reading, and study skills for elementary, high school students, and students preparing for the SAT and GED exams. My goal for each session is to break the lesson down into small parts to help in gaining understanding and reduce anxiety.
As a tutor I strive to meet the expectations of both the parent and student. I appreciate comments and will never charge for a lesson if the student or parent are not satisfied.
Weekday evenings are set aside to tutor students once they are dismissed from school. On rare occasions, I will tutor on the weekends. I use my home for most of my tutoring, to ensure a quiet and comfortable work space for the student. I will travel to another location if needed and if time will allow.
I want to help them achieve excellence in all they do. I look forward to helping your child grow in knowledge.
Math is my favorite subject to teach. I incorporate many visuals aids to help students understand the math concepts. For many of my lessons I use "Notebook Foldables." This teacher resource helps students keep their lessons organized. I also use the internet for added understanding and practice.
During my studies to obtain a master's in education, I was required to take a course in Zaner-Bloser manuscript and cursive handwriting. I received a certificate of completion for both. I then used these skills to teach handwriting to kindergarten and first-grade students. I can teach a student good writing techniques, whether they are right or left-handed.
I have taught two years of kindergarten and two years of first grade using the ABeka phonics curriculum. At times I would get a new student who had not been in our preschool program and did not have the needed phonics foundation. I would spend time after school hours tutoring the student. By doing this, the student had great improvement both in reading and self esteem.
Math is my favorite subject to teach to students. I incorporate many visuals aids to help students understand the math concepts being introduced. In addition, I use Notebook Foldables to help keep lessons organized and give students a reference book to use as their resource guide for school.
I am a reading certified teacher. I have been a first-grade teacher for the last five years. In my classroom I have used phonics to help students excel in reading. I not only used reading programs offered online, but I also used audio books to help make reading fun.
My specialty is in tutoring math. The students I currently tutor are from kindergarten to college level. I focus mainly on helping college students with Algebra and Prealgebra assignments. I am looking forward to using my math skills to help high school students prepare for their SAT Math success.
Has lots of patience with my child — I have been going to Ms. Gwenette for about a month now and have noticed an improvement in my son's math skills (4th grade). Ms. Gwenette is very patient even at time going over the allotted time. I truly enjoy taking my son for his lessons, and he enjoys the time as well! Thank you! ...
