I've been a self employed drama coach for 10 years within my own company. I specialize with children ages 3-13 and can turn their acting and public speaking fears into dust. I also can help with basic elementary schoolwork, utilizing theatre games and tools that make facts 'stick'. Children LOVE me. I have one of my own, plus 3 close nephews. Most of my experience in teaching utilizes some type of game, drama therapy... using what we need to learn as our main focus.
Communication and 'getting to the meat' of the matter is what I do best. I don't leave, 'hoping' the kid got it. I leave knowing the kid got it. Test taking skills, and memorization skills I can provide assistance with, again, going back to drama. Actors have to memorize lines, actions, and emotions. Memorizing dates, facts, and spelling is very easy to teach when you put stories behind them. Then VISUALIZE where you where when you learned them. It's a great technique.
I would need to know what our focus is before our lesson to give me time to prepare the lesson-plan. With me you will find a creative fun, and knowledgeable tutor, one you will most likely want to work with time and again.
