I have been a teacher of art for 6 years to students aged 5-18 in public and private schools and as a private tutor. I like to teach a variety of media including drawing, painting, 3D, ceramics, photography, printmaking, graphics, art history and criticism. I consider my classes to be fun, innovative, experimental, informative and informal.
As well as studying art to Master's degree level and holding art teacher certification, I have also worked in several arts careers prior to teaching. I was a graphic designer at a children's magazine and a theater-craft artisan. I am always on the lookout for new materials to try, artists to discover and technological advancements to learn.
I enjoy tutoring one-on-one or small groups as this allows for greater flexibility to adapt the classes to suit the individual students' needs. I also like to take students on trips to see exhibitions, galleries, museums, artist studios and on observational drawing trips. I find these are very motivational and inspirational.
