Thanks for looking at my profile, I look forward to the opportunity to meet you and work together!
I am a recently retired Federal government employee, who worked in Information Technology for over 35 years. I am currently working as a substitute teacher for Fairfax County Public Schools, for secondary school and high school math
/information technology; and, as a tutor for mathematics
in the Adult Learning Program. I have also tutored in the Huntington Learning Center program, with major emphasis on math and SAT
My education, from high school all the way through college and a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering
, was at highly selective schools. I tutored math, physics
while I was in high school and college; with my recent retirement from the government, I am "returning" to my love for solving problems and sharing my passion for sharing knowledge and helping others to succeed.
I have always felt that Mathematics is interesting and can be fun. I can break down difficult concepts, thereby helping students understand the concepts in all types and aspects of math problems and the step-by-step process of solving them. My primary focus is building the student’s confidence, through thorough explanation of the basic concepts involved, by interactive practice and feedback.
I love to work with computers! I see it as an exercise in logical thinking: computers are, basically, stupid; you must be very clear and explicit in laying out the problem to be solved and the algorithms for the solution(s). I see this as a very close parallel to tutoring and sharing knowledge with other people.

no, it is perpendicular ... parallel means the two lines have the same slope (multiplier of x); perpendicular means the two slopes are negative inverse of each other (when multiplied together, the product is -1). Since -1/2 * 2 = -1, the two lines are
parallel lines have the same slop; perpendicular lines have slopes which are the negative inverse of each other, ie, when multiplied together the result is -1.
slope of y=3x+8 is 3
slope of y=-3x+4 is -3
The two lines are neither parallel nor perpendicular...
