When teaching English and Social Studies I taught my students key relevant vocabulary terms that they needed to know. One method I used was to have my students write the terms, write the textbook definitions, write the definition in their own words, and draw a picture representing the term's definition. Other methods I used were: vocabulary terms typed on strips of paper were categorized by students in a logical way; word search puzzles. After daily reviews, I would give my students weekly vocabulary quizzes to determine how well they knew the vocabulary.
