About Shane

Hello, everyone!

My name is Shane K., and I am currently a masters student, soccer coach, and a Multiple Disabilities Teacher for Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS). I work at Liberty Middle school in Centreville, VA and teach one section of Math 8, three sections of Reading, and one section of English 7.

I am also a travel soccer coach for Vienna Youth Soccer. I attended George Mason University and was part of the University Scholars Program (25 students each year are admitted for a full academic scholarship). I graduated from GMU in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Management and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and am finishing my Master's in Education from the Curry School of Education at University of Virginia (NOVA Campus).

I have in-depth experience in various subjects. Math and sciences are my two strongest points. (I have scored above the 80th percentile on all standardized tests scores including SAT, ACT, Regents [New York standardized tests] and GRE.)

Also, I have thorough knowledge of English and reading for both specialized populations and general populations. I have participated in reading trainings for three different reading programs (Approved through Fairfax County) that are based on phonemics and phonics awareness.

I was a member of the Big Buddy program throughout high school (Big brother/little brother program) and also headed the annual Special Olympics event at my high school.

I strive for perfection but also have a love and passion for teaching and the development of students.
