I am a middle school math teacher who teaches 6th and 7th grade math and Pre-Algebra. I have tutored many students in the past and enjoy working one-on-one with students (children and adults). I have worked in an inclusion classroom, and am extremely patient and flexible with students who have ADHD, Autism, and other conditions. My schedule is very flexible and I am willing to work with you, according to your needs. I am also endorsed in English and can help students with writing and reading comprehension. I enjoy getting to know my students and then tailoring my tutoring sessions around their interests and needs. Algebra 1

I currently teach Pre-Algebra and have completed graduate classes in Basic College Algebra, Trigonometry, and Probability and Statistics. The Basic College Algebra class contains the material found in Algebra I classes in middle/high schools.

Prealgebra

I currently teach Pre-Algebra and have very high remarks from students on the material they have learned in my classes. I love the subject and make the material very easy for my students to understand.

Elementary Math

I am currently working with two students who are in elementary school. One is in the 1st grade and one is in the 4th. I enjoy working with younger students because I know what they need in higher grades and I feel I can give them a good base for what they will need later. I make learning math fun for my students so they do not feel they are 'bogged' down with more math problems! This is important for elementary level students.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am currently a middle school math teacher and am also endorsed in middle school English. I have tutored students in elementary school and have no trouble with the material. I am very good with young children and can definitely help them to improve their skills in reading, math, English, etc.

Study Skills

As a Math teacher, it is imperative that I teach my students how to study. I also must teach them how to stay organized and prepare for tests. I offer instruction on graphic organizers, organizing binders, using calendars, creating and using flash cards, and various other methods to study for tests. During my tutoring in the past, I have been able to help students learn how to mentally prepare for tests.

Special Needs

I have worked with students with ADHD and Autism in a classroom setting this year. This year, I was the general education teacher in an Inclusion classroom. I work with Autistic students, as well as ADHD, and specific behavioral disorders. I have the patience and special manner it takes to work with these students. I have also personally tutored students with ADHD. I will be taking 2 classes at UVA this summer on specific learning disabilities.
