I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Sewanee: The University of the South and a Master's in English Education from Vanderbilt University. I have four years of experience teaching high school English to sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Throughout my four years of teaching, I have worked extensively on editing junior and senior college essays, and I welcome students of any high school age to contact me regarding their college application essays and short answer responses. I also have experience working one-on-one with students to improve their SAT and ACT English and Writing scores, in addition to building standardized test vocabulary. In the past, I have taken students through their standardized test workbooks and explained the logic behind each correct answer. I have also taught common SAT and ACT vocabulary words in my English classes.
In addition to teaching high school, I have worked with all ages teaching swimming lessons and coaching swimming and track. Thus, I am open to helping students of all ages become stronger readers and writers. I am willing to search local libraries to find the best learning resources for your child, and I am well-versed in technology and will refer your child to helpful websites and learning tools online. Please contact me with any initial questions you may have regarding my experience or teaching style. I look forward to hearing from you!
