I have always had a passion for problem solving and I took a liking to math at an early age. I began tutoring in the USMC where I helped Marines study for math courses. I started college with aspirations of being an electrical engineer but quickly became fascinated with physics. In the process of obtaining my bachelor's degree (in physics), I administered study sessions for non-physics majors with great results. I attended graduate school for chemical physics where I have obtained a Master's degree and am nearly finished with my doctorate. As a graduate student, I spent a couple years teaching physics laboratories and assisted in course instruction. The comments left by students about my teaching style were always very positive. Some of the comments were so sincere and uplifting that they are still hanging on my wall today.

I have tutored students of all ages in math and physics. I have helped students prepare for standardized tests such as the MCAT, ACT, SAT and GRE (Quantitative section). Using computing tools such as Mathematica and Excel to illustrate math/physics fundamentals is something I am also familiar with. I am accustomed to helping students with online-based homework/test submissions but try to emphasize the benefit of doing things "by hand."

I am able to quickly identify a students ability. However, I make it a point to build on the students strengths rather than openly announce his/her weaknesses. I am particularly good at working with students with ADD, since I am myself ADD. I find that students with ADD often have unrealized potential that hasn't been previously accessed. Overall, I connect well with students of all ages and I genuinely enjoy seeing the look on a student's face when he/she finally "gets it."
