Hello,
I'm a Mechanical Engineer (BSME) with a Finance background (MBA) that believes anyone can learn anything if they really desire to do so. I also believe that this desire most often comes from great teachers, loving parents, and supportive friends. I not only care deeply about your (or your child's) learning of the subject material but also about their understanding of practical application.
In addition, I'm an active volunteer helping to support the inspiration of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) career paths for our Northern Virginia children & young adults. Because every student comes from a different level of material understanding, my approach is CUSTOM fit for each student: for example, a young learner might have difficulty visualizing fractions and may need examples that employ geometric shapes that are cut into equal pieces. This way of learning helps students to "Visualize" the answer in their mind verses trying to use their fingers or a calculator.
An adult in their first year of Engineering & Physics classes may need to see how the Newton's Law formula F=ma is mathematically integrated to get a basic projectile motion equation in the Y-direction eg. [-1/2 g*t^2 +v(0)*t +y(0)].
Yet another person in the Finance (or Engineering) Profession may need help automating tedious calculation processes using Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).
No matter your specific need, my more than 8 years of experience tutoring in college, 15 years of experience leading teams of professionals, and many years of experience as a parent may be leveraged to help you reach your goals.
I am also continually learning myself - having obtained two professional certifications during this past year alone, I am continuing with the objective of obtaining Professional Engineering Licensure.
I look forward to getting to know your specific need and to help you achieve your objectives.
Respectfully Yours,
John B., BSME, FE(EIT), MBA, PMP, ITILv3, CSSGB
