ITC A. Zanon - Udine Italia - IT Programmer/Acc
“Teaching is communication, and when you teach you have to communicate your way to do something: if your student learns ‘how to do’ you win, if he doesn't you fail. The most important thing is the result: at the end of the course the student will be able to do what he studied for”.
I am Roberto, 49, I like teaching, and I combined the activity of teaching/training with my main job (software developer and general manager of the software company I set up and owned). I did it in Italy, where I lived before staying in Virginia... I taught software (COBOL, BASIC), general computer knowledge, Excel, Word, accountancy (with italian laws, also using specific applications). I taught in school as a technichan, in professional courses, to my customers (software application and general computer knowledge) and in courses I organized.
Communication is getting more and more important everywhere, so I combined my business expertise with public speaking and communication, and I also taught promotion and communication, public speaking, use of PowerPoint, use of press releases, surveys, ads, social media. I did it while I held parlamentary offices in Italy, and so I was really “doing” what I taught. Of course now I can't teach speaking (public or not) the best "English": posso insegnare come parlare “Italiano” (in pubblico o meno), perché sono italiano di madrelingua (I can teach Italian because I am native italian speaker). But I can teach "how" to hold a speech, no matter what language you use, how to communicate, how to support your communication with a press release or with a social network. Maybe I have not the best “word” (in English) but surely, after the course, you will have the best way "to say" it.
If you have any question please contact me; I'm waiting to teach you and together, as well as in a team, we will achieve your goal. “Teaching is communication, and when you teach you have to communicate your way to do something: if your student learns ‘how to do’ you win, if he doesn't you fail. I am a slow learner and attend with trepidation but Roberto is always very patient and also fun! So I am enjoying my lessons and eager to learn Italian and travel to Italy!
Roberto is very professional. He is giving my son excellent advice and is helping him overcome his shyness in speaking Italian. As a parent I am also interested in listening to his lessons as I think a lot of us can use some help on how to be better at communicating. My son feels very comfortable with Roberto and looks forward to his lessons. I recommend him highly!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I'm a software developer. I got my high school degree in Italy in 1983 as IT programmer/accountant. I worked in several companies in Italy, approximately from 1984 until 2005 (1987-2005 also in a company I set up in Udine, Italy) as software developer and analyst using COBOL (RM/Cobol), BASIC, RPGII in Unix, DOS, and Windows OS. I designed, developed, and supported business software applications. I taught COBOL mainly in professional courses.
If you want to learn COBOL, you should have a computer with licensed COBOL compiler and runtime (if needed) to let you try the software you develop.
I worked in the IT field for many years. I have experience in hardware, software, programming, management. I taught Computer programming and computer science usually in professional courses, before teaching a specific subject (COBOL, Basic, Unix… and so on). Also computer programming is a concept for better understanding how a computer works, and sometimes high school students learn general concepts for future studies. I can help you to understand computer programming and computer science, but it is very important to know exactly what is the goal you want to achieve.
DOS is the first (and now the oldest) worldwide operating system for a personal computer. I have used it since I started to work in the IT field. Now it is old, but DOS command line is still active, and of course I can help you use DOS commands.
Maybe it could be interesting put together (or compare) several OS, like DOS, Unix, Macintosh, and Windows. I have used them all for many years. Just let me know what you need to learn.
For good results, you should have a computer with the operating system you wish to use, and you must bring it to your lessons.
I worked in the IT fields for many years, and I have been in the IT education fields for many years. I have experience in hardware, software, management, business applications.
If you just want to know more about computers we can plan together a course: you will learn how a computer works, you will learn how to use spreadsheets (Excel), word processors (Word), emails, browsers (IE, Firefox, Chrome) and so on, you will understand the meaning of "backup."
For better results, you should have a computer with a licensed (or a free) office automation package, no matter the brand, and you must bring it with you during the lessons.
I've taught these kinds of courses many times. You will achieve your goal and you will be really happy. If you are three people or more, we can also use slides (PowerPoint) during the lessons.
I am Italian native speaker, and I still have frequent contacts with Italy, so my Italian is definitely "current" (yes, I know, it is much better than my English). I have a lot of experience in technical teaching (first) and communication and public speaking (later), because I also held parliamentary offices. I will teach you to speak and understand Italian to use it every day. I have in-depth knowledge of legislation, and I can explain exactly how to understand the Italian laws. Even if you are only going a few days to Italy on vacation or for business, I can help you and teach you the most important things quickly.
Macintosh is a specific world of computing, with a specific operating system (OS/X). I used Mac for a couple of years. I can teach you how it works and how to use it. We can also compare different operating systems, such as Windows, Unix, OS/X.
To achieve positive results in learning, you should have a Macintosh computer, and you must use it during the lessons.
I am now reverting to the private sector after more than 20 years in the Italian Institutions, where I worked as legislator and administrator in several legislatures, and I am very experienced as a organizer and as a speaker in national and international conferences. Don't expect me to teach you "English": I'm not a native speaker and maybe your English is better than mine. But I will teach you "how" to hold a speech, what is the "Body Language", how to use times and pauses and even more. I learned (technically) at first what is "public speaking" playing at the theatre (also as an art director) when I was 20 years old, and later I have taught for many years. I will teach you how to get people's attention, why people listen (or not) to you while you are speaking: of course what you say is important, but NOT ONLY that. And I can also teach how you can support speeches with media, surveys, press releases, social networks.
We can plan a “communication” course, with the public speaking at the center of the program. I planned and taught many times (in Italy) in this kind of courses … you will achieve your goal! If you are three people or more, we can also use slides (PowerPoint) during the lessons, and we can plan a “speak zone” to practice… Learning “public speaking” will be a pleasure!!
