Hello!

I am a professional, multi-media artist who has exhibited in galleries in Washington, DC, Baltimore, Maryland, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and in New York, NY. From having gone through over two decades of personal art study in private art studios, in college, and on my own, I have built strong drawing and painting skills and have experimented with just about every medium you can think of. Since graduation, I have taught through many different art programs in the northern Virginia area and through private art tutoring. Through these programs, I have taught drawing (from observational drawing to cartoons/stylized images), mixed-media sculpture, and pottery/clay to children ages 4 to 17 years old. From tutoring, I have taught a wide range of art concepts and skills, including basic art skills, watercolor painting, realistic portraiture, perspective drawing, sewing, and creative arts projects to students from the ages of 7 to 89.

While some may say I have a lot of experience and skills, I am always learning and trying to share my knowledge and skills with my students. I believe in helping others develop their talents in ways that work best for them. I strive to teach and illustrate concepts or materials in as many ways as needed to deepen understanding and learning. From my experiences as a teacher and having gone through art education since I was a child, I understand and highly value patience, diligence, and creativity with learning and with practicing one's craft/art. Not only that, but art should also be a fun experience! If these values also align with your own, and you would like this for yourself or your budding artist, please contact me for art tutoring!

I look forward to working with you and/or your child!

Sincerely,
Emily
