I graduated from VPI in 2007 with a degree in mechanical engineering and a minor in philosophy. Since then I have been designing assembly line machinery using finite element analysis, CAD, and hand calculations. Basically, I know how the stuff they're teaching you in class actually gets applied in the real world, which allows me to make the material more relevant. I can tutor for most freshman and sophomore level classes an engineering student might be taking (physics, calculus, statics, dynamics, deforms, mechanical design, system dynamics, fluids, etc). Please contact me with the specific course number, so I can make sure I'm the right tutor for you.
In addition to course related topics, I can also instruct in a number of computer programs useful for an engineering student. I use SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Excel on a daily basis. I am also competent with Autodesk Inventor, PowerPoint, and Word.
I live near campus and make my own hours in my design job, so I can be flexible to meet with students on campus in the mornings, in between classes, or in the afternoons. Nights are a no-go since I have a wife and two kids I'd actually like to spend time with. If it looks like I can be of some assistance to you, please contact me and we can start working together to improve your performance in your classes.
