Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Adobe Flash

I started using multimedia software like Adobe Flash during graduate school at the San Francisco Art Institute. As a consultant I have used the product to create interactive media for various clients. I am currently teaching a course titled "Introduction to Flash" at Howard Community College in Columbia, MD.

Adobe InDesign

As a Macintosh Consultant I assist clients in the publishing industry with graphics software. Organizations such as MBL Communications would often enlist my services to troubleshoot technical issues with InDesign, or with production as needed. As a professor and consultant I have trained students on the use of the full Adobe Suite, including InDesign.

C

I learned Objective C (which is based on the C language) in 2008 on my own in order to begin developing iPhone apps for the iTunes Store. I have taught short courses for Future Media Concepts including "Comprehensive Study of Objective-C" and "Developing iOS Apps for Gaming." Several of my iOS products are available for download.

Macintosh

Before relocating to the DC area I worked for 10 years in New York as a Macintosh Consultant. This involved installing equipment (computers, software and networks) and training clients on how to use new software for creative projects. I have also created a series of iPhone applications which are currently available to download on iTunes.

Painting

I started painting as a child, using various materials including oil, acrylic, gouache, and watercolor paint. My minor at Virginia Commonwealth University was in painting and printmaking; several of my works from that time were included in local exhibitions. Since graduate school, I have taught course in the art programs at both Virginia Commonwealth University and University of Mary Washington.

Video Production

I am a video artist whose work has been shown in art galleries and included in international festivals. As a consultant I have assisted clients who are new to technology, or are using certain software platforms for the first time. My background includes work with Final Cut Pro, Avid, Premiere, and After Effects.
