My main goal is to do what I love-- sharing my knowledge of the Korean language with those who are interested in learning it! I've taken a year-long break from school at the George Washington University just to get some side work experience at an Intellectual Property law firm, and while giving mini-lessons to a co-worker, I've realized that I would do better to share this with many other people out there who want to learn Korean as well! Korean is actually gaining a lot of popularity these days-- not only is it on the list of critical languages (as it is used in both South Korea and North Korea), it is useful for business purposes, and it is also on the rise with the socio-cultural aspects of Korean pop music, food, dramas, and many other forms of entertainment!
SO, now that the background blurb on the language itself has been introduced, here's more about me. I am a Korean-American born and raised in North New Jersey but my parents enforced a firm discipline to never have English spoken within the home. That being said, my Korean is near native and I've also been able to put this skill to use with doing work in translating and transcribing documents at the South Korean Embassy here in Washington DC. Now as for what I can offer as your tutor, I am able to teach pronunciation in speaking, reading, writing, and grammar in Korean. So whether it be a series of lessons to build a language skill for your career position, brush-up's for courses in school, an interest in learning to be able to hold casual conversations, or for quick sessions to learn enough to travel around and get by in Korea, I will be sure to help you get it down pat!
I also believe that learning, on a whole, should be a fun and rewarding experience: both for the student as well as for the teacher. With that, I'm excited to hear from you! I'm pretty flexible with time and locations, so please contact me if you're interested :)
