I have a love for learning and a drive for excellence. I studied French language
and civilization at the Sorbonne, France, and worked in a French summer camp for children. This experience advanced my fluency so that when I returned to the US as an undergraduate I was permitted to study French at the graduate level. My minor was in French West African History
. I graduated as a James Scholar and a member of the honorary societies of my major and minor as well as an Alpha Lambda Delta, an honorary society for undergraduates who attain the highest grades in their first year. A Master's Degree from George Washington University earned me a job in the government working both domestically and internationally; and a second Master's degree in education earned me a Master's degree certification in teaching of French Immersion. I have taught French to adults and children, enrichment classes at the Elementary level, and other topics of interest. In my free time, I engage in Citizen Science
projects and stewardship of our local parks, working as a Master Naturalist.
I wish to engage my students to nurture a curiosity for subjects and inspire a yearning for excellence. When I work with students I discern the problems that are hindering them, foster good learning habits, and encourage a desire to improve in studies beyond the tutoring session. An important factor in excelling in school is good reading
skills, consistent study habits, and a faith in one's abilities and strengths.
While I do have a 24 hour cancellation policy, I understand that sessions can be missed due to illness. I am able to schedule makeups.
