I have a Dual Bachelor's Degree in Forestry and Forest Biology from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY ESF) in Syracuse, NY.
My Master's Degree is also from SUNY ESF. It is in Natural Resource Management.
I have published magazine articles on natural resource topics. I have also published conference proceedings on Geographic Information Systems.
I am a Certified Public Manager, awarded by the George Washington University Center for Excellence in Municipal Management.
I currently work as an Information Technology professional with my main focus on Geographic Information Systems. I have worked as a consultant and currently I work for a government agency. My experience in teaching mostly involves training staff and clients in various ways, both in groups through presentations with materials that I have prepared, or one on one to train people in procedures that use complex software. My strength is working one on one with people to determine their needs and to teach them how to problem solve using software tools. I also have two children and I have enjoyed and been successful at helping them with homework and school projects.
My approach is to develop an individualized study plan for a student based on his or her specific needs, interests and tendencies. As I get to know the student, I will find or create study guides, presentations, and hands-on study aids to help the student learn in fun and interesting ways. I will pay special attention to the materials and subject matter being assigned by the student's teacher or what is needed for the specific situations on their job to ensure that the assistance I provide produces tangible results in terms of improved grades or greater effectiveness at work.
