I am currently a second-year graduate student at Johns Hopkins University pursuing a master’s degree in Government. My current research focuses on the role of popular movements in the advancement of civil rights policy in American History. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in history from Arizona State University, graduating Magna Cum Laude. My undergraduate theses focused on the role of women in Progressive Era advancements and the status of civil liberties in America during World War I. While my degree is in general history, my primary interests are in the Progressive Era and Twentieth Century America. I am also proficient in Western, Pre-Columbian and Contemporary American history.
I am passionate about history and will work to identify an individual learning style for each student that generates a similar interest in history. With a seemingly unending list of important dates and names, historical studies can be overwhelming and—more importantly—boring. However, when properly conveyed, history tells the story of each of us, and the struggles and achievements of the past are easily relatable to our lives today.
Additionally, I will use the subject to enhance your student’s ability to think critically, conduct thorough research and write effectively. I am available weeknights (with the exception of Mondays and Wednesdays) and weekends.
