Bonjour, I am a French native tutor born and raised in Paris and willing to help you or your child learn or improve his/her skills in French. I have lived in the US for over 15 years, and moved to the DC area in 2005 to follow my husband in his new career opportunity. I own a French postgraduate degree in Economics as well as an American degree in Graphic Design and Visual Communication. I work as a freelance graphic designer and tutor. I have been tutoring since 2010, helping many government and private sector employees, foreign service officers, as well as high school or college students. I am passionate about art and creativity and try to incorporate this creativity in my teaching methods.

In short, Martine is an excellent tutor!
To elaborate: Martine is first and foremost a very enjoyable person to be around. Our lessons are always cheerful in nature and you can tell that she really enjoys sharing her skills with others. Her lessons are a great combination of regimented and fluid structure--Martine always has a plan for the lesson to ensure productive use of time but also allows for you to explore certain things on the fly if they are of interest to you or require additional time to comprehend. The content of her lessons further augments her teaching skills/methods: As a native of France, Martine brings her lifetime of experience to the table and ensures that you're learning a style of French can be applied once you leave the classroom. Finally, she is very accommodating when it comes to scheduling lessons--a very convenient trait if your schedule tends to be dynamic.
Martine was of tremendous help in teaching me how to correct my illustrations using Photoshop.
I am extremely grateful for her knowledge and her ability to communicate her know how in a very user friendly way.
I was extremely comfortable in working with her. She was able to grasp my problems immediately and applied effective, easy ways to apply remedies.
I needed a couple of lessons before my upcoming trip to France and Martine provided all I needed. Thank you!
Martine has been a very effective French teacher for me. She understands my strengths and weaknesses quite well so she can tailor our lessons to the things I need most to work on. I already had a little French so it was important to me that the lessons were neither too basic nor too advanced. Ms. G made them just right and she has helped me very considerably. I would recommend her strongly for the approach she takes with students, which is both thoughtful and highly effective.
Martine was well prepared for our session, including providing her own worksheets and materials. I have a book I purchased to teach myself the language, and she looked through it and gave me some exercises as homework. She only assigned me work that I could handle outside of the sessions; she is sensitive to the busy professional's time. Martine was encouraging and patient during our class. Although I came to the session feeling nervous about my ability, I left feeling like it would be a breeze to learn this language!
I learned French previously, but stopped for a couple of years. I was planning to go to France in the summer, and wanted to get a tutor to refresh my French. Ms. G. was amazing and really helped me a lot. Even though we only met 3 times, we managed to get our goals accomplished. Work with her and you won't regret it. She is a fluent French tutor from Paris. Nothing beats this.
Martine is a fabulous French Tutor. She is punctual and comes prepared to tackle any area with which your child needs help; whether to reinforce grammar rules, enhance vocabulary, prepare for tests, build confidence, enrich your understanding of the French language or just practice speaking skills.
She is a native French speaker who is professional, friendly and patient. She often supplements her lessons with handouts. She is a wonderful resource.
Martine has been instrumental in helping me brush up my French for the dreaded State Department language test. She is very patient, but will always push you! I really appreciate how she is able to tailor each session to my pace, needs, and weaknesses. I definitely recommend her as a tutor!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
