I'm a recent graduate of Georgetown University with a bachelor's degree in International Relations. I have just moved back to D.C. after teaching English at a high school in South Korea for one year. In Korea, I taught seven different classes with about sixteen students in each class. I was responsible for creating my own lessons (three lessons each week) as well as for several extracurricular activities. I also offered many students individual help with short- or long-term projects, including college applications.
I have been tutoring since I was 11 years old, making long experience one of my greatest advantages as a tutor. My other great advantage is flexibility. I believe that students and tutors are partners who make equal and mutual contributions to the learning process. Tutors have the responsibility to adapt materials to the learning styles, interests, and personalities of their students. Because of this, I always do my best to adapt my tutoring and any materials that I use to the needs of the individual student. I involve the student and listen to what they have to say about what they most need to learn, as well as about what helps them learn best.
