My name is Craig, and I’ve been tutoring high school and college math and science for the past 5 years. I graduated from University of Arizona with an Engineering degree. I started tutoring in college as a way to pay for school expenses, and I fell in love with it. There’s just something great about helping people succeed in things that they find difficult. Because of my love for it, I’ve continued to tutor even though I have a full-time job engineering job now. I’ve tutored everything from Algebra 1 up through AP Calculus.
I spent last year as a volunteer teacher in the Pacific Islands, where I taught high school economics and physics.
I think one of my best traits as a tutor is my youth. Some would say that I can’t be as good of a tutor because I don’t have enough experience, but I would argue exactly the opposite. Because I’m relatively young, I can relate with my students because I remember what its like to be one. Not only am I able to help them understand the material, I can give them valuable test-taking tips and study habits.
Any respectable math course today will have a large focus on technology (i.e. graphing calculators). These machines are incredible tools that can help supplement students’ understanding of math in amazing ways. Unfortunately, most teachers don’t teach calculator skills (likely because they themselves don’t know how to use them), but I am able to help students unlock the power of the graphing calculator (not as a way to cut corners, but as a teaching tool).
I’m excited to meet you and your family, and I’d love the opportunity to help you understand math better than you ever thought you would.
