As a foreign language teacher and university foreign language professor with 10 years of experience, linguist and a foreign language research supervisor of college level language students with over 5 years of experience, interpreter/translator to and from English with over 20 years of experience, and a multi-lingual international project coordinator with over 15 years of experience, I am now looking for an opportunity to work as an ESL/TESOL tutor. With a mix of skills across teaching English as a foreign language at various levels with associated curriculum development and linguistics research supervision, interpretation and translation to and from English in a vast variety of subjects, and acting as a multi-lingual international project coordinator and facilitator, I believe my background and experience make me a strong candidate for being a successful ESL tutor. I have experience in teaching students of all ages and levels, from elementary, middle and high school to college level language students and adults with non-language backgrounds.
I received my Bachelor's degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language at the A.I. Hertzen Russian State Pedagogic University in St. Petersburg, Russia. I received a Ph.D. degree in Foreign Langauges (English and French)from the same school. I also received an Oxford Seminars certificate in TESOL/TESL/TEFL with specialization in teaching Business English (140 hours). I have a certificate from Florida Department of Education for teaching ESOL.
I believe that a successful teacher needs to have both required qualifications and an incessant passion to teach. My fairly long career as a teacher, interpreter, translator, and international project coordinator has shown me that such qualitites as a willingness to respect and appreciate people around you, a desire to be creative and flexible, and a continuous strive to excel make work extremely rewarding. I make my ESL classroom productive by applying an individual approach and giving my students ample opportunities to excel in the language. I enjoy helping people, especially those who may have quit any hope that they can be helped. I have been a strong believer that there are no bad students but there are impatient, indifferent and lazy teachers.
