I am a teacher working for Fairfax County Public Schools. I have my master's degree and have taught preschool through adults. I absolutely love working with people and helping others achieve their goals. I have been tutoring since I was in high school and have experience working with many different disabilities including but not limited to ADD, ADHD, and Autism. I tutor all Language Arts subjects, all elementary school subjects, math including geometry, and music. I love to teach and work one on one or tutor small groups.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am an elementary school teacher in Fairfax County Public Schools. I currently teach 3rd grade but have also taught second for FCPS. I am comfortable and familiar with the Virginia State curriculum in K-6 and have tutored from grades K-8.

General Music

Before I decided to major in early childhood education I was pursuing a degree in music education. I play all woodwinds and have performed in Carnegie Hall (March of 2006). I have extensive background in all areas of music including theory, history, and performance. I still play with various community groups.

Phonics

I hold a masters degree in Early Childhood education which involves a background in phonics. I taught for the Institute of Reading Development which has a great phonics based program for the younger grades. I taught phonics in my second grade classroom last year.

Special Needs

I have an undergraduate degree in education that include a minor in special education. I have taught students with ADD, ADHD, Autism, Aspergers, Williams Syndrome, Downs Syndrome, Dyslexia, multiple disabilities and learning disabilities. I have several twice exceptional students in my class this year.

Autism

I have worked with students with autism since I was in high school both as a babysitter and a tutor. For over 2 years I volunteered as a SonRise volunteer for a 3 year old boy with autism and was trained by a SonRise facilitator. I have a minor in special education as part of my undergraduate degree.

SOL

I am a certified teacher with a masters degree. I teach third grade and have a very high SOL passing rate within my class. I am familiar with the added rigor of the tests as well as the technology enhanced items (TEI questions) that are new this year. I am familiar with all of the SOLs and have access to practice tests and questions for all grade levels and subjects.
