I have taught high school level mathematics in a private high school in NC for over 4 years. I relocated to the area due to a spouse military move. I have a BS in Electrical Engineering, MBA and Certified Teacher Certificate from NC. I love mathematics and love to help students connect the dots between the textbook and everyday life. I have helped students raise their SAT math scores by over 100 points and I am passionate about not just the mechanics of getting the right answers, but understanding the fundamental concepts behind the problems. I feel comfortable in one-on-one as well as small group settings. I am also available for homeschool or daytime tutoring. I've worked with a variety of students with different skill levels, backgrounds and abilities.

Algebra 1

Taught algebra 1 on the middle and high school level at a private academy. I pay special attention to transitioning students from their mathematics or pre-algebra curriculum to algebra 1 because this is the foundation of higher level mathematics. I love to help students achieve their very best in this subject.

Algebra 2

I am especially passionate about Algebra 2 because it transitions the student from the "basics" into the higher level maths. Concepts taught in Algebra 2 form the basis for other maths such as Calculus, and sciences such as Chemistry, and Physics. I work hard to ensure that each student is successful and gains confidence in their ability to do mathematics work.

General Computer

I have extensive experience with computers. I was programming using BASIC since 11 years of age and continued with computers through college where I majored in electrical engineering. I have worked as an IT supervisor at a small academy and I installed OS's, upgraded and repaired PC's, created databases, and tutored Microsoft Word. I also implemented and taught a computer science course at the academy. I am also security + certified.

Prealgebra

I work especially hard with students that are in prealgebra because the numbers that they are so familiar with are starting to turn to letters (what happened?). I work specifically with where the student is and help them gently transition to higher level math thinking.
