Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I tutor this subject the most. I have raised all of my students' grades in this subject and look forward to doing it for you or your child.

Astronomy

Astronomy is my favorite subject. I can sit and talk about the sun, moon, and stars for hours and hours. I would love to have the opportunity to share my knowledge with you.

Biology

Biology is the study of life. I currently teach this subject (2012-2013). I work with seventh graders but can teach 10th grade as well.

Elementary Math

I feel comfortable in elementary math. I work in a middle school now and even though I teach science I often help out with math. math and science go hand and hand.

Geology

Geology is the study of the earth. I'm very knowledgable of all types of rock layers of the earth and all other materials that have to do with the earth's surface.

Physical Science

Physical science is mostly an 8th grade subject. I currently teach seventh grade. I am licensed to teach both 7th and 8th grade science. I enjoy physical science more than any other subject.

Prealgebra

This is mostly a 7th and 8th grade subject. I have worked with both age groups and enjoy them both.

SOL

I've taught Earth Science for two years and during that time did a great deal of work with prep for the SOL. I understand how they work and have access to all the standards of learning for each subject.
