Dear Student,
I am a former NIH scientist with multiple research publications and patent applications, a graduate of UIC in Chicago with doctorate in Biochemistry and also hold Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from MHTI - a leading engineering college in the former Soviet Union. My professional career included a Technical Reachback work with Defense Threat Reduction Agency (answering by phone complex technical questions of the Army personnel) and running computer models of emergency scenarios for them. I worked a number of years as a patent analyst in diverse technological fields. During my PhD studies I had 5+ years of university teaching experience in Organic, Inorganic and Biochemistry, labs and classes. I took MCAT with 14/15 in scientific part and subject GRE at 98% percentile. Recently I successfully took Patent Bar.
This background and experience makes me comfortable to teach mid-level courses and lessons in the fields of chemical engineering, science (biology, chemistry, physics), mathematics (algebra, trigonometry), Patent Bar preparation and also teach Russian language. My ideal student is a senior high school or junior college age individual, focused on overcoming temporary difficulties in a particular subject matter or simply curious to learn more. The members of the US Army looking for scientific and linguistic tutoring are also very welcome.
The preferential study format is hands-on: based on the texts recommended by the student's school and the recommended problem book, to walk the student through the solutions of the typical problems that give him/her a trouble. The main goal of tutoring is to overcome a particular well-defined test. With such a goal in mind I shall can easily become prepared.
Typically, methods of explanation for particular difficult spots are standardized and novel ways will be developed and adapted to a particular situation, to ensure a successful outcome. The success also requires the student's cooperation in reading the theory and of course all difficult questions will be answered in the beginning of our class before we get down to the practical drill.
I am a patient, understanding person, have my own child and enjoy to work with younger people! My style is simple and soft, it envisages the effort on the part of the student and the family, with my part is to push over the edge to the final success on a well-defined path.
Looking forward to hear from you!
Dr. Anatoly M.
