In addition to speaking Spanish at home and studying Spanish in school, I am fluent due to watching TV and movies, listening to music, talking to friends, and traveling in Central and South America.

I analyze and pinpoint the strengths and weaknesses of all of my students and I find methods to work for each individual. I have a teacher membership with several sites that will enable students to practice and perfect their Spanish at home at their convenience. Having memberships gives me the ability to create specific lessons tailored to the needs of each student. Furthermore, the students are not dependent on me because they will have access to helpful resources.

Growing up with an uncle with autism and two younger siblings with learning disabilities, I became very conscious of the fact that every person learns in a different way.

I consider myself a mentor and not a tutor. The word tutor comes from a root word meaning "guardian, watcher." The word mentor has roots that imply a mentor is an "advisor." It isn't my style to stand over students, but rather to guide them in the right direction.

Thank you very much for your kind words. Every time I meet with a student, I analyze his or her strengths and weaknesses and then I share them, and suggestions to improve weaknesses, with the student when I submit the lesson. My hope is that each student will learn why he or she is struggling and then has access to resources and tools that help improve weak areas. I enjoy seeing your son's improvement each time.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Spanish

Grammar and Vocabulary - I have extensive knowledge of Spanish grammar and vocabulary from studying Spanish for over 10 years. I can help people looking to improve in Spanish for school.

Speaking and Oral Comprehension- I have researched language acquisition and have mastered making Spanish sounds that don't exist in English and a neutral Spanish accent. I thoroughly understand ways to make conversation in Spanish flow and come naturally.
