English became my favorite subject at school from the time it was introduced to me in the fifth grade, so it was a natural choice for me to study languages, when I was accepted to the prestigious Linguistic University of Nizhny Novgorod in Russia. I received a Master's Degree in education with a focus on teaching English and Spanish.
Since then, I have based my educational interests on foreign languages and cultures.
I started my career teaching English to students from elementary to high school classes. Back in Russia I worked in the position of Vice Director and Chief English Instructor at the Municipal Special school. I was observing and evaluating classroom instruction, counseling English teachers on program improvement.
I worked as an English Engineering Translator /Interpreter for the Ministry of GAS Industry (MINGASPROM, Russia). Translated foreign language technical instruction manuals and documentation into Russian. Provided real-time precise interpretation for visiting foreign engineering instructors. Conducted courses on Basic English and technical terminology to facilitate communication between Russian and foreign engineers and workers.
Throughout my professional career in Russia, I conducted numerous tutorials on a private basis for schoolchildren preparing them to enter linguistic institutes and universities, and for adults, immigrants and businessman conducting business with foreign companies abroad.
I would like to sincerely welcome everyone who decided to learn the Russian language. I feel very gratified when my students express a genuine interest in the culture, history, art of my country because that's what learning other languages implies. It expands one's horizons and understanding of the country and gives a deeper understanding of one's own country.
Learning Russian might seem to be a challenge due to its complex grammar structure, but it is also an unforgettable journey into the rich world of the Russian language style, phraseology, descriptiveness.
I have a lot of experience teaching Russian to different level adults, from beginners to professional linguists. However, teaching school children will be a genuine pleasure for me as well. I have a degree in teaching languages for all age groups.
For three years I worked as a primary Russian language instructor for the Central Texas College program for US Army Special Forces foreign language training (FLTC, Ft. Lewis, WA). I developed and implemented a Russian language program of instruction with supporting syllabi and lesson plans for different level classes and intensity of language courses.
For additional two years, I worked for the Richard Milburn High School program for US Army foreign language training in the position of a Russian Language Instructor, Translator, and Editor. I developed and edited learning objects for DLI on-line Russian courses. I am very versed in DLI protocol.
For the last two years I have worked in the position of the Curriculum Project Manager. Managed multi-step program coalescing English templates into 19 foreign language courses from Category I to Category IV levels of difficulty. Personally participated in the design of the Web-based 200-hour Russian Familiarization Course.
Teaching Russian in the U.S. expanded my own knowledge enormously on different L2 teaching methods and opened new areas for me to explore. I know how to make my lessons interactive and gear them toward achieving students' goals.
