I am passionate about helping students succeed. I grew up in Europe where education was one of the most important goal a person could hold in life. At times it was difficult, but I learned skills and lessons that I would never forget. In college I studied Creative Writing, Fiction, English Literature, Shakespeare, Philosophy, and Advanced French.
I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Southern California. I was interested in helping children and families and I earned a Master's Degree in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling from Pepperdine University. Six years later, I completed a doctorate in Clinical Psychology.
I coach students in study skills, study methods and motivation, test anxiety, academic and career development. It is exciting to be able to pass on the skills I learned in order to help others succeed.
I am credentialed to teach the following: General Psychology, Human Growth and Development, Cognitive Psychology, Social Psychology, Child and Adolescent Development, Anxiety Disorders, Child and Adolescent Disorders, Mood Disorders, History and Systems.
My tutoring approach teaches students how to study. I do not only teach the subject matter. I also teach patience and strategy. Depending on the student's goals I have addressed study methods, such as how to do abstract integrative reading, specific strategies for preparing and taking exams, coping with test anxiety, or exercises to practice study skills. I encourage and spend time on the practice exams for various college entrance tests. The advantage of taking as many practice exams as possible is that it solidifies the information learned and reduces the anxiety associated with test taking.
